Insurance

Insurance will often cover at least part of the cost of certain counseling modalities. If I am within your network, a claim will be made on your behalf. If I am not within your network and you wish to file an insurance claim with your health insurance provider, I will issue a bill that includes all the necessary information to assist you in filing your claim.

I provide services under the following plans

  • Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Illinois PPO,  Cigna

  • Self pay

Individual, Couples and Family Therapy

For insurance to reimburse you must have a diagnosable condition. I will not provide a diagnosis purely for the purpose of insurance reimbursement (this is potentially unethical and illegal). Any diagnosis of a mental health condition must be supported by the symptoms. Please  consider if you are comfortable with your insurance having access to your records or knowledge of any diagnosis. It is the responsibility of the client to check with their insurance company regarding coverage or copay-- please contact you insurance in advance of the first session.

Mediation is rarely covered by insurance.

Confidentiality

Legal and ethical responsibilities require that private sessions remain confidential. Therefore, no information will be released to another professional or agency without your written consent. Exceptions will be made only if you are at risk of harming yourself or others, and/or in the case of child abuse or elder abuse. In these cases the law requires your therapist to share certain information with specific outside parties.

The Length of Services
The length of time an individual or couple participates in therapy varies. Factors that influence this would include: an individual's motivation, depth of problem, external and internal resources, and response to treatment. Some individuals may respond quickly to therapy and may need only a few sessions. Others may have more complicating factors that would necessitate therapy lasting longer.

Voice Mail/Emergencies

Your therapist is available by telephone should a situation arise that cannot wait until your next scheduled appointment. In such cases, please leave a message on voice mail indicating the nature of the situation. Your therapist will returncalls as soon as possible. If you are experiencing an emergency and need immediate assistance, please call 911.
