"Too often couples wait until being angry and distant feels normal"
About the Couple's Place
As a therapist and supervisor with over 20 years in the field, I have enjoyed working with many populations. However, nothing has brought me more satisfaction than helping couples build the relationship that they have always wanted.
My dream has been to build a practice committed to the mission of helping couples rediscover the friend and lover they once knew. Through modern, research-based approaches, couples can learn to better communicate, handle breaches of trust, find compassion and feel understood.
The Couples Place is committed to one mission: providing skilled and compassionate treatment to individuals and couples dealing with challenges in their relationships.
I am currently building this practice from the ground up. My goal is to put together a team of therapists that you can know with confidence have the experience and knowledge to serve you and your partner. I am also committed to a practice that serves all people without prejudice or judgment.
Please let me know if you have any questions or comments.
Your Truly,
Adam Krieger, MA, LCSW
About the Therapist >
Adam Krieger
I started in 1991 as a caseworker in some of the most challenging communities in Cook and Lake County. After completing my masters at the University of Chicago in 1995, I worked with individuals and couples in a variety of setting. For the past 12 years I have been a therapist and executive director of a youth and family services program.
With couples, I have experience working with matters related to communications, balancing different parenting styles, infidelity, sexual addiction, unmet sexual needs or just feeling distant and lost in the relationship. I have received training in Emotionally Focused Therapy and Gottman methods, but I use an eclectic mix of approaches based on the individual needs of the couples.
In addition to working with couples, I have extensive background providing services to clients dealing with depression, anxiety, sexual addiction, poor self-esteem, anger management and communication skills.
In addition to therapy, I have also completed training in mediation from Loyola (40 hours) and University of Wisconsin (24 hours). Further, I have experience working with couples where on individual is on probation/parole or dealing with significant legal problems.
I am the father of two wonderful boys, married for over 12 years, a den leader in the scouts, past president of the Lake County Foundation for Child Abuse Prevention and current president of Healthy Communities/Healthy Youth. I also enjoy reading, working out and want to start painting again (just can't find the time).
